Celebrating Unity and Cultural Heritage

The Nigerian Association, Bristol (NAB), founded in June 1999, is a vibrant community organisation that promotes unity, cultural heritage, and support among Nigerians in the Southwest of England and Wales. Over the years, NAB has become a beacon of cultural pride and community spirit, providing a platform for Nigerians to connect, share, and celebrate their rich cultural heritage. 

Our Mission and Vision 

NAB is committed to fostering unity among Nigerians, educating younger generations about their heritage, and supporting its members’ socio-cultural and educational advancement. We aim to create a welcoming environment where every Nigerian in the UK feels a sense of belonging and pride in their cultural identity. 

Our Founders

NAB owes its existence to the vision and dedication of its founders, whose hard work laid the foundation for the vibrant community we have today. We honour and remember the founders of our association:

Core Objectives and Community Involvement

NAB’s objectives are promoting unity, cultural education, and community support. We aim to:

  • Foster a sense of belonging and collaboration among Nigerians in the UK. 
  • Educate and mentor younger generations about Nigerian culture and heritage. 
  • Support members in legal, civic, and socio-economic matters. 
  • Promote cultural understanding and integration within the broader Bristol community.

Activities and Events 

  • Cultural Celebrations include Independence Day events, cultural festivals, and traditional dance and music performances. 
  •  Youth Engagement: Programs designed to educate and engage Nigerian youth about their heritage. 
  •  Community Support encompasses social gatherings, support groups, and outreach programs that assist members in need.

To join, please complete the membership form on our "Join Us" page. You must provide personal information, confirm your eligibility for Nigerian citizenship, and select your membership type.

Members enjoy various benefits, including access to cultural and educational events, social support services, advocacy, and opportunities for community engagement. Additional benefits include financial support during bereavement or illness and participation in community celebrations.

The Executive Committee meets monthly and has a Quarterly Ordinary Members Meeting (OMM). The Annual General Meeting (AGM) takes place each September .

  • The one-time registration fee is £20.
  • The yearly membership fee is £60, or you can pay £5 monthly via standing order.
